You’re at first trimester, but you’re having some pelvic pain, maybe some cramps. Today we’re gonna discuss three tips for helping deal with pelvic pain, especially in the early pregnancy.
Now you may be having some changes. You notice fatigue, nausea, and you don’t have a baby bump yet, but boy, you’re feeling all the discomfort and the changes that are going on.
Well remember that that uterus is starting to grow, even though the uterus is still inside the pelvic girdle in that first trimester, it is starting to grow and you’re starting to feel some pulls and some discomfort sometimes. Sometimes women say that they feel more of like a menstrual cramp, and there is a concern.
It’s always good t confer with your doctor and let them know what’s going on. It’s really important if you have the cramping along with bleeding or spotting or dizziness or fever or shortness of breath.
You wanna let them know, to make sure that they can rule out any yeast infection, UTI, ectopic pregnancy, or a miscarriage. Be in touch with your doctor. And I know this can be stressful during that first trimester going for that 12 week mark, but make sure that you discuss with them. The other thing is take rest.
How to prevent vaginal pain:
Tip number one, rest and breathe. A lot of times we are under the assumption that, oh, I’ve been doing this and no big deal, I can continue to do this work or this activity or this exercise. But just know that your body is under a lot of demand in this first trimester.
Take a break and rest in this position, propping yourself up with pillows and do some diaphragmatic breathing. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. Smell the roses, blow out the candles. And when you’re doing this, you’re actually doing a little movement to the pelvic floor. So you’re doing a little bit of a stretch.
Resting is so powerful to help decrease some of the pelvic pain. Another thing that you can do is the butterfly stretch. So you sit down on the floor, put your feet together and gently pull them in. Lower those knees and just feel a gentle stretch. The goal is not to get your knees on the floor, but just do a gentle stretch.

How to deal with the pain:
You can do some of your breathing at the same time. The third tip is get on an exercise ball or just sitting on a chair, and do some pelvic tilts. When you move forward and back and in circles, this helps relieve some tension in this pelvic area.
Now again, as you’re working through your first pregnancy, your first trimester of your pregnancy, some of this pelvic pain, maybe due to some tension and some stress.
Sometimes as we’re nervous, and we’re thinking about different things that are changing in our body and different feelings, we can hold some tension. So some of these tips may help reduce some pelvic pain and some pelvic tension. Please know that always confer with your doctor, let them know what’s going on.
It’s great to have a journal, write down your symptoms and the length of the symptoms and what you were doing. Also, don’t feel like you need to do this alone. A pelvic floor physical therapist can help you out through this journey of pregnancy.
There are so many things that can be done in a full evaluation of your symptoms, and then you can get an individualized treatment with specific exercises and stretches that are beneficial for you.
Don’t feel like you have to do this alone. Just be aware of what’s going on and communicate and connecting with your body and your pelvic floor and your symptoms.
